University of Alabama Hall of Fame
The University of Alabama Hall of Fame was created in 1966 to honor the accomplishments of the school’s most successful athletes, coaches and administrators. Since then, it has inducted over 300 members and become one of the most prestigious halls of fame in college sports.
The hall is located in the heart of campus in the Mal Moore Athletic Facility, which was named after its first inductee in 1999. The facility houses a museum with exhibits on each member of the hall, as well as a theater that shows a film on the history of Alabama athletics.
The hall holds its induction ceremony every year during Homecoming weekend. During the ceremony, new members are presented with their Hall of Fame blazer and have their name added to the wall of inductees inside the facility.
Some of the most famous names in Crimson Tide history are members of the Hall of Fame, including Bear Bryant, Joe Namath, Jesse Owens and Carl Lewis. If you’re a fan of Alabama athletics, a visit to this hall is a must-do while you’re on campus.
