The Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame Board meets annually to elect new members. To be eligible, an athlete must have been retired from his or her sport for at least three years. A coach becomes eligible three years after retirement or immediately upon reaching the age of 70. An individual who has made outstanding contributions to sports in Arkansas, but who was not primarily an athlete or coach, may also be elected. The number of individuals elected each year varies according to the judgment of the board.
Nominations are solicited by a statewide committee of sports media representatives, and the ballot is then sent to all living former inductees and current board members for their votes.
