The Illinois High School Sports Hall of Fame is a hall of fame that honors athletes from all over the state. It was established in 2006 and is located in Chicago, Illinois.

Inductees
The Gordon Tech Hall of Fame was created to honor the accomplishments of alumni, faculty, and staff of Gordon Technical High School in Chicago, Illinois. The Hall of Fame seeks to recognize those who have made significant contributions to their chosen field or profession, and who have brought credit to Gordon Tech through their achievements.
The first class of inductees was announced in May of 2017, and includes Babe Baranowski, Leo High School’s all-time leading scorer in basketball; Cicero Mayor Larry Dominick; Judge Mary Rowland; and Dr. Walter E. Massey, President Emeritus of Morehouse College and former Director of the National Science Foundation.
The induction ceremony will take place on October 28th, 2017 at the school’s auditorium.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the Gordon Tech Hall of Fame, an individual must have graduated from Gordon Tech High School at least 10 years ago. The individual must have made significant contributions to his or her field, and must be widely respected by his or her peers.
The Waddle Hall of Fame was established to honor those individuals who have made significant contributions to the game of basketball. To be eligible for the Waddle Hall of Fame, an individual must have played professional basketball for at least 10 years.
The Leo High School Hall of Fame was established to honor graduates of Leo High School who have made significant contributions to their fields. To be eligible for the Leo High School Hall of Fame, an individual must have graduated from Leo High School at least 10 years ago.
Cicero is a suburb of Chicago, located about 10 miles west of downtown Chicago. Cicero is known for its large Italian-American population. Babe Baranowski was a famous Cicero resident who was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1975.
Enshrinement
The act of placing someone in a hall of fame is an act of enshrining them. This means that their accomplishments and contributions will be remembered and honored for years to come. When someone is enshrined in a hall of fame, they become part of history.

Waddle Hall of Fame:
The Waddle Hall of Fame was established to recognize the outstanding achievements of former students and faculty members who have made significant contributions to their field or profession. Inductees are selected based on their excellence in academics, athletics, leadership, service, and/or other areas that reflect the school’s values.
Leo High School Hall of Fame:
The Leo High School Hall of Fame was created to honor alumni who have made significant contributions to their field or profession. Inductees are chosen based on their achievements, character, and commitment to Leo High School and its values.
Events
The Gordon Tech Hall of Fame is an annual event honoring the achievements of alumni from Leo High School in Cicero, Illinois. This year’s honorees include Babe Baranowski, who played basketball for the school’s championship team in 1943, and Frank Waddle, who was a star football player in the 1950s.

The Museum is the perfect place to learn about the history of Gordon Tech and see some of the amazing things that our students have accomplished over the years. From the Hall of Fame, which features graduates who have gone on to achieve great things in their field, to the Waddle Hall of Fame, which celebrates our school’s sports teams and athletes, there is something for everyone at the Museum.
Leo High School:
Leo High School is a Catholic high school located in Cicero, Illinois. It was founded in 1894 by Fr. Leo J. Ryan, a pastor at St. Agnes Church in Chicago. The school originally served as a grammar school but transitioned to a high school in 1916. In its early years, Leo was known for its strong academics and athletics programs. Today, Leo continues to provide an excellent education for its students and is proud to be one of the top Catholic high schools in Illinois.
Board of Directors
The Board of Directors is the group of people who oversee the operations of a company or organization. The board sets the strategic direction for the organization and makes decisions on major issues, such as hiring the CEO, approving the annual budget, and setting long-term goals.
The board of directors is typically made up of high-level executives from various departments within the company, as well as outside experts with experience in fields relevant to the organization’s industry. For example, a tech company’s board might include members from its engineering, marketing, and finance departments, as well as an outsider with experience in venture capital or product development.
The size of a company’s board varies depending on its needs and preferences, but most boards have between five and 15 members. The board meets regularly to discuss important matters relating to the operation of the organization.
Gordon Tech Hall of Fame:
The Gordon Tech Hall of Fame was established in 2013 to honor alumni and friends of Gordon Technical High School who have made significant contributions to their professions and communities. Inductees are nominated by their peers and selected by a committee consisting of past inductees and current and former faculty members.
So far, there have been three classes inducted into the hall of fame: 2013 (the inaugural class), 2014, and 2015. Some notable inductees include Babe Baranowski (class of 1943), a former Major League Baseball player; Leo High School (class of 1967), a prominent Chicago architect; Cicero IL to Chicago IL (class
1984), an urban planner; and Waddle Hall Of Fame (class of 1994), a philanthropist and civic leader.
