About the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame
The Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1961. The MSHOF honors athletes, coaches, and contributors who have made significant contributions to sports in Mississippi.
The MSHOF has inducted over 500 individuals into its hall of fame since its inception. Some of the most famous athletes from Mississippi who have been inducted into the MSHOF include NFL greats Jerry Rice and Brett Favre, MLB legend Frank Thomas, basketball star Karl Malone, and Olympic gold medalist Jackie Joyner-Kersee.
The MSHOF also recognizes the accomplishments of Mississippi’s high school and collegiate athletes through its annual awards program. The High School Athlete of the Year award is given to the top male and female high school athlete in the state each year, while the college athlete of the year award goes to outstanding male and female athletes at Mississippi’s colleges and universities.

How to get inducted into the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame
The Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame is a non-profit organization that honors the achievements of athletes, coaches, and contributors who have made significant contributions to sports in the state of Mississippi.
To be eligible for induction into the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame, an individual must first be nominated by a member of the public. Nominations can be made online at the MSHOF website or by mail. Once nominations are closed, a committee of MSHOF members will review all nominations and select a group of finalists to be considered for induction.
Finalists will be announced in April and inductees will be honored at an annual ceremony in June. To be inducted into the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame, an individual must receive a minimum of 50% support from the voting members
Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame Inductees
The Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame is pleased to announce its 2021 inductees. This yearufffds class includes some of the stateufffds most accomplished athletes, coaches and contributors to the world of sports.
Among the inductees are former NFL great Jerry Rice, who starred at Mississippi Valley State University before going on to a stellar career with the San Francisco 49ers; college football coaching legend Billy Brewer, who led Ole Miss to seven bowl games in a 12-year span; and nationally syndicated sports radio host Paul Finebaum, whose show originates from Birmingham, Alabama but has become must-listen programming for Mississippi sports fans.
Also being honored are late Hattiesburg American sportswriter Bill Minor, longtime Meridian Star sports editor Tommy Hicks Sr., and legendary high school basketball coach Robert Dampier, who won more than 1,200 games in his career.

Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame Events
The Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame will be hosting several events throughout the year to celebrate the accomplishments of its inductees.
The first event will be held on February 6th, 2021 at 7pm CST. This virtual event will feature a panel discussion with some of the most accomplished athletes in Mississippi history.
The second event will be held on March 27th, 2021 at 7pm CST. This virtual event will feature a panel discussion with some of the most successful coaches in Mississippi history.
Lastly, the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held on April 24th, 2021 at 7pm CST. This yearufffds inductees include: Jerry Rice, Brett Favre, Archie Manning, and Steve McNair.
Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame Jobs
The Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame is always looking for talented and dedicated individuals to join our team. We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the following positions:
ufffd Event Coordinator: The Event Coordinator will be responsible for planning and executing all aspects of our events, including but not limited to fundraising events, induction ceremonies, and educational programs. He or she will also be responsible for coordinating with venue staff, caterers, audio/visual technicians, and other vendors. Qualified candidates should have at least 2 years of experience planning special events.
ufffd Development Officer: The Development Officer will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our development and fundraising efforts. He or she will work closely with the Executive Director to identify and cultivate relationships with potential donors, plan and execute fundraising campaigns, write grant proposals, and manage our donor database. Qualified candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of experience in development or a related field.
ufffd Education Programs Manager: The Education Programs Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing educational programs that serve our mission of promoting the history and heritage of Mississippi sports. He or she will work closely with school administrators, teachers, coaches, athletes, and other stakeholders to develop curriculum-based programs that are engaging and informative. Qualified candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of experience working in education or a related field

The Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame is now accepting nominations for the Class of 2021. This yearufffds class will be inducted during a ceremony at the MSHOF Museum in Vicksburg on Saturday, August 14, 2021.
Nominees must have made significant contributions to sports in Mississippi and must be at least 25 years old. Posthumous nominations are also accepted. The deadline for nominations is June 1, 2021.

Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame Coaches
The Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame has announced its 2021 class of inductees, and among the list of distinguished athletes and coaches is none other than Mississippi native and college football legend Eddie Robinson.
Robinson, who coached at Grambling State University for his entire career, is considered one of the greatest college football coaches of all time. He led the Tigers to 17 SWAC titles and finished his career with 408 wins, the most in Division I history at the time of his retirement. He was also inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1997.
Other members of the 2021 class include former Ole Miss basketball star Anfernee “Penny” Hardaway, NFL great Jerry Rice, and longtime Jackson State baseball coach Bob Braddy Sr.
