The Ms Sports Hall of Fame is a non-profit organization that recognizes female athletes for their achievements in athletics. The first class was inducted in 1978 and the Class of 2018 will be enshrined on September 29th, 2018.

The Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame is a non-profit organization that honors the accomplishments of athletes, coaches and contributors from the state of Mississippi. The hall was founded in 1961 and is located in Jackson, Mississippi.

Each year, the hall inducts a class of new members at its annual induction ceremony. This year’s induction ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 15th, 2021 at the MS Sports Hall of Fame Museum in Jackson.

To be eligible for induction into the hall, an individual must have made a significant contribution to sports in Mississippi. This can include (but is not limited to) outstanding achievement as an athlete, coach or contributor; significant contributions to the promotion and development of sports in the state; or distinguished service to sports on a local, state or national level.

Nominees must be at least 25 years old and cannot be active in their sport (or coaching/contributing) at the time of nomination. An individual can only be nominated posthumously if they have been deceased for at least five years.

Anyone can nominate someone for induction into the hall by filling out a nomination form on the hall’s website ( Nominations are due by February 1st each year and are reviewed by a selection committee before being presented to the board of directors for final approval.

Jerry Rice was born in Starksville, MS and attended Mississippi Valley State University where he set numerous records for catches, yards, and touchdowns. He went on to have an illustrious career in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers, Oakland Raiders, and Seattle Seahawks. He is widely considered to be the greatest wide receiver in NFL history.

Walter Payton was born in Columbia, MS and played football at Jackson State University before being drafted by the Chicago Bears in 1975. He had an incredible 13-year career with the Bears where he became their all-time leading rusher and was named MVP of Super Bowl XX.

Brett Favre grew up in Kiln, MS and played quarterback at Hancock North Central High School before going on to play at Southern Miss University. He was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in 1991 but quickly traded to the Green Bay Packers where he spent most of his legendary career. During his time with the Packers he won a Super Bowl title and three MVP Awards.

Steve McNair was born in Mount Olivette Nashville but moved to Alcorn County as a child where he starred as a quarterback for Alcorn State University before being drafted third overall by the Houston Oilers (now Tennessee Titans) in 1995. He had a successful 14-year career in the NFL including co-MVP honors with Peyton Manning in 2003 while playing for Tennessee Titans

Archie Manning is one of Mississippiufffds favorite sons thanks to his exploits both on and off the football field. The Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame announced its 2021 class on Tuesday, March 2. The eight-member class will be inducted during ceremonies in Jackson on Saturday, May 8.

The MSHOF Class of 2021 includes former University of Mississippi and NFL quarterback Eli Manning, who was the first overall pick in the 2004 NFL Draft and went on to win two Super Bowl MVP awards; Jerry Rice, considered by many to be the greatest wide receiver in NFL history; Steve McNair, another former Ole Miss quarterback and NFL star who was co-MVP of the league in 2003; Walter Payton, who starred at Jackson State before becoming one of the most prolific running backs in NFL history; Brett Favre, a Hall of Fame quarterback who played for both Southern Miss and the Green Bay Packers; Annika Sorenstam, widely regarded as the greatest female golfer of all time; Deuce McAllister, an Ole Miss running back legend who went on to have a successful career with the New Orleans Saints; and Percy Miller, better known as rapper Master P, who had a successful music career after starring at basketball at Usherufffds New Look Foundation.
