Events

The Georgia Sports Hall of Fame is set to induct five new members in 2022. The class includes former MLB All-Star Chipper Jones, Olympic gold medalist Janet Evans, NFL Pro Bowlers Randall McDaniel and Kevin Mawae, and college football coaching legend Vince Dooley.

This year’s induction ceremony will be held on Saturday, October 8th, at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. Tickets will go on sale to the public on June 1st.

Chipper Jones was one of the best players of his generation, spending his entire 19-year career with the Atlanta Braves. He was a eight-time All-Star, won two Silver Slugger Awards, and was the NL MVP in 1999. He helped lead the Braves to a World Series title in 1995, and is widely considered one of the best third basemen in baseball history.

Janet Evans is one of the most decorated swimmers in Olympic history. She won three gold medals at the 1988 Summer Games in Seoul, adding to her collection which also included four world records. Evans retired from competition in 1996, but remains involved with swimming as a motivational speaker and coach.

Randall McDaniel was a fixture on the offensive line for 14 seasons with the Minnesota Vikings and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was selected to 12 straight Pro Bowls from 1987-1998, and was named First Team All-Pro six times during that span. He helped pave the way for some of the greatest running backs of all time, including Adrian Peterson and Emmitt Smith.

Kevin Mawae spent 16 seasons in the NFL playing for three different teams: Seattle Seahawks (1994-1997), New York Jets (1998-2005), and Tennessee Titans (2006-2009). He was an eight-time Pro Bowler during his career, and was named First Team All-Pro three times (1999, 2000 2001). Mawae also served as president ofthe NFL Players Association from 2008 until he retired from football in 2009
