UVM Hockey Hall of Fame
The University of Vermont has a long and storied history in college hockey, dating back to the early days of the sport. The school has produced some of the game’s greatest players, coaches, and teams, and its Hockey Hall of Fame is a testament to that legacy.
The UVM Hockey Hall of Fame was founded in 1974 to honor those who have made significant contributions to the sport at the University. Since then, it has inducted over 100 members, including some of the most iconic figures in Vermonters sports history.
Some of the notable inductees include:
-Hockey legend John LeClair, who played for UVM from 1989-1993 before going on to have a successful NHL career with the Montreal Canadiens and Philadelphia Flyers.
-Former head coach Mike Gilligan, who led the Catamounts to their first ever NCAA tournament appearance in 1981.
-Current UVM head coach Kevin Sneddon, who has continued the program’s tradition of success since taking over in 2005.

Vermont Sports Teams

Vermont has a long and proud history of Olympians, dating back to the very first modern games in Athens in 1896. Here is a list of some of the most notable Vermont athletes who have competed on the world’s biggest stage:
-Herman Duryea: A member of the U.S. team that won gold in the inaugural modern Olympic Games in Athens, Greece in 1896.
-John Coughlin: A two-time Olympian (1924 and 1928), Coughlin was a member of the American team that won silver in the team figure skating event at the 1924 Winter Olympics in Chamonix, France.
-Bill Demong: A four-time Olympian (2002, 2006, 2010, 2014) and America’s first ever gold medalist in nordic combined, Demong hails from Vermont’s own West Windsor.
-Kelly Clark: A three-time Olympian (2002, 2006, 2010), Clark is one of America’s most decorated snowboarders with a gold medal in 2002 and bronze medals in 2006 and 2010.
– Hannah Kearney: An Olympic champion freestyle skier from Norwich, Kearney won gold at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver and bronze at the 2014 Sochi Games.
Vermont College Football
Vermont is home to some of the best college football teams in the country. The University of Vermont Catamounts are a Division I Football Bowl Subdivision team that compete in the Colonial Athletic Association. The team has seen success in recent years, winning conference championships in 2013 and 2014. They also have a strong rivalry with the University of New Hampshire Wildcats.
The Norwich University Cadets are another top college football team in Vermont. They compete in Division III and play their home games at Sabine Field. The Cadets have won numerous conference championships and have produced several NFL players, including Pro Bowl linebacker Andre Tippett.
